Taryn graduated from The University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology) (Honours) in 2001. Since then, she has worked as a Speech Pathologist both in the public (within Royal North Shore and St George Hospitals) and private health sectors.
Since moving into private practice in 2005, Taryn has worked with a vast number of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families.
Taryn is the director of Talking Tongues Speech Pathology, a specialist paediatric speech therapy practice. She assists children aged from 18 months to 12 years, experiencing the following:
- delayed/disordered language - including expressive (the way we get our message across to our listener), receptive (our understanding of verbal and non-verbal language) and pragmatic (social use of language) language skills
- articulation (pronunciation) problems including motor speech disorders such as Developmental Apraxia of Speech
- early literacy difficulties
Taryn is committed to empowering families of children with autism by carefully training them so they may guide the cognitive, social and emotional development of their children. The principles of RDI® program are used as the vehicle to achieve this goal.
